In the Word
Three keys to overcoming the enemy in your life.
Rev. 12:10-11
"And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of God, and the power of his Christ: for
the accuser of the brethern is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcome him by the blood of the
Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death."
Three keys to overcoming the enemy in your life.
1. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb or the blood covenant by which we have been saved.
Andrew Murray said, “The blood is the most profound, deepest, mightiest, and most heavenly of all the thoughts of God and lies at the root
of all covenant”.
After God made promises to Abram, he looked to God for confirmation that God's promises would come to pass. In Genesis 15:8, Abram
replied, “O Sovereign Lord, how can I be sure that I will actually possess it?” Oftentimes, we find ourselves asking God the same
question. God, how can I be sure? How do I know that you will come through on my behalf? How can I be sure that I will possess all that
you have promised?
God has already responded to us in the same manner in which he responded to Abram in the book of Genesis, "So the Lord made a
covenant with Abram that day and said, “I have given this land to your descendants" (Gen 15:18). God has made a covenant with you and I
through the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the blood of Jesus we have been brought near to God and can have full confidence knowing that
God will not break His covenant.
Psalms 138:2
"For You have magnified Your Word above all Your name"
2. We overcome by the word of our testimony or our confession of faith.
Stand your ground and speak out what the blood of the Lamb has purchased for you. Thank God, there is power in the blood! When we
add our testimony to the finished work of Christ we can expect salvation and breakthrough!
Romans 10:9-10
"...If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is
with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Joshua 1:8
"This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do
according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success."
2 Cor. 4:13
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.”
3. We overcome when we love not our lives unto death.
We overcome when we make the decision to give ourselves away to fully to Jesus rather than 'hanging on' to our lives. Another way to say
this is that we overcome when we truly surrender. We must allow Jesus to truly be the LORD or KING of our lives in order to be an
overcomer.
So, give yourself fully to Jesus, agree with what God says and trust that what He said will come to pass in your life because you've got a
covenant with the Creator of the universe and He's not backing down on what He said.
